Taking My Kids To The Beach Is Always a Messy Nightmare

My kids love the water.
In the tub, in the sink, in the toilet, at a splash park, at the pool and at the beach. Yet, out of all these places, the beach is one place I hate bringing my kids to because of the drama involved with cleaning them up after we leave.
I’ve taken my kids to two beaches in the course of their lives, one fake beach at a shopping centre summer fair grounds and the other in Spain, and both experiences I dreaded. Even with a portable water station on the beach in Spain (still in the sand, which makes no sense to me) it is still impossible to remove sand from these kids. The problem I have is once we leave the beach, we bring the beach with us. It is so annoying because unless I am going to cover my entire care in plastic wrap, then physically and carefully carry my children into the house, drop them in the tub and bathe them from head to toe, I am most likely going to get sand everywhere. In my car, in my bag, in my shoes, in my home and the worst, my kids’ hair. Trust me, if you are black or have black kids with afro textured hair, you know it is a b*tch getting sand out of their hair. Particularly my girls who have long hair.
That’s why I prefer taking my kids to an indoor or outdoor pool and water park. The only things I would have to worry about are washing their bathing suits and towels. My girls’ hair would stay dry under their swim caps, which would save me the stress of washing and styling their hair, as well as preventing potential breakage from the chlorine.
In the end, the pools and water parks win every time. They provide all the fun without the headache of dealing with sand. It’s a win-win for everyone, and I get to keep my sanity intact. So, while the beach may be a picturesque outing, I think I’ll stick with the pools and water parks for my water-obsessed kids.
What are your thoughts? Do you feel the same way or do you have some genius way of tackling sand once you leave the beach with your kids? Cause, I’d like to know!
